Spotlight: Boot Camp: Broadcasting

When you watch football on TV, do you look at the studio anchors or color commentators and say to yourself, “I could do that”? Well, now’s your chance to give it a try at the eighth annual Boot Camp: Broadcasting.

Player Engagement’s popular Broadcasting program will provide you with all of the tools you need to take the first steps towards securing broadcasting opportunities. You’ll break down film with Ron Jawroski and Greg Cosell; go through a production meeting with Brian Baldinger and Solomon Wilcots; and go live on SiriusXM Radio with Ross Tucker. But when the red light goes on, so does the pressure! Not many people can say that on their first time co-anchoring a studio show they were sitting next to James Brown or Curt Menefee, but at Boot Camp: Broadcasting you will get the experience of a lifetime by working with some of the top broadcasters and executives from ESPN, FOX, CBS, NBC Sports, NFL Network, NFL Films, SiriusXM, and Westwood One.

The experience just starts in the studio. At Boot Camp: Broadcasting you will experience a variety of broadcasting disciplines that you could pursue, including radio, studio analysis, play-by-play, and local reporting. Classroom and mentoring sessions with network executives will further increase your knowledge of broadcasting preparation techniques, the landscape of the industry, and realistic career paths. The relationships you’ll build at the program will last you a lifetime and, with a little extra practice and determination, could lead to a future job. Over one third of all Boot Camp: Broadcasting graduates have gone on to either full or part-time broadcasting gigs!

Boot Camp: Broadcasting will take place on June 16th – 19th, 2014 at NFL Films in Mt. Laurel, NJ. The cost to attend is $1,000 plus travel. Applications are available now and must be submitted by March 4th, 2014. Visit the NFL Engagement Zone for additional information and to apply.

And don’t forget about Boot Camp: Sports Journalism & Communications, the perfect complement to Boot Camp: Broadcasting for anyone who is interested in a broadcasting or media career!
