WASHINGTON, D.C. – Driven By Our Ambitions (DBOA) announced today that registration is now live at www.dboaprep.com for the 2015 DBOA Educational Seminar and High School Football Camp hosted by NFL coaches and players on Saturday, June 13 at Coolidge H.S. in Washington, D.C. at 9 a.m. ET. DBOA has partnered with Non-Profits: Men Aiming Higher, Inc. and UNITY (Understanding Needs In Today’s Youth) to continue supporting the student-athletes beyond the one-day event.
The DBOA Educational Seminar and Football Camp was established for student-athletes and their parents/guardians to receive critical information that will help them continue their education beyond high school, while using athletics as a catalyst to help get them there.
The educational seminar consists of sessions for both student-athletes and their parents/guardians on financial literacy, the high school football recruiting process, students and parents developing a college success plan and staff members from the NCAA Eligibility Center discussing the entire student-athlete admissions process. During the lunch-hour, former and current collegiate and NFL nutritionists/dieticians will share with all in attendance the importance of eating healthy, the benefits of doing so and how to find economical meal options.
The on-field portion of the camp consists of 20-plus NFL coaches and players teaching student-athletes necessary skills they can use during their upcoming seasons and beyond. Greater Washington area youth football coaches will have the chance to serve in an apprenticeship capacity for the NFL coaches and players. Emphasis will be put on teaching the student-athletes skills that the NFL coaches and players would have wished they'd known during high school.
Registration will be capped at 175 student-athletes from the DMV area who must be in good academic standings. Student-athletes will be provided gear from in-kind event sponsor Adidas.
