As part of Player Engagement’s continued effort to provide opportunities to players in a range of industries and within the NFL family, we are introducing the new Boot Camp: Consumer Products for the 2014 offseason. In collaboration with the NFL’s Consumer Products group, League licensees, and the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business, Boot Camp: Consumer Products is the perfect program for current and former players who aspire to careers in the apparel and consumer products industries.
Participants in the Boot Camp will receive an overview of the consumer products field with a focus on business planning, product marketing, and industry trends and practices. Over the course of four days, representatives of NFL Consumer Products, League licensees, and Robert H. Smith faculty will cover all of the fundamental knowledge and provide the networking and mentorship necessary to embark on a successful career path in this competitive industry. A visit to the 2014 Consumer Products Summit will provide a real-world look at how licensees exhibit and sell products to teams and to the League.
A component of success in this industry is being able to sell your product. To provide this experience, participants will go head-to-head in the Group Pitch Contest, taking place at the Under Armour headquarters on the last day of the program. Participants will work in groups to examine product information and develop, create, and deliver a compelling pitch to a panel of judges comprised of executives from the NFL and from Under Armour. This experience delivering a presentation in a corporate environment in front of an accomplished panel of judges will be invaluable regardless of what career path you pursue after football.
Boot Camp: Consumer Products will take place on March 2nd – 5th in Baltimore, MD. Selected participants will be required to pay an attendance fee of $1,500 and cover the cost of their travel to and from the program.
