NFL Player Engagement
If you think you’d like to pursue a career in financial management and services, you’re in luck. Through Player Engagement’s job shadow and internship program, we seek to provide current NFL players and NFL legends with tangible, meaningful experience in career fields that they are interested in exploring following their NFL experience. We work with companies that share our commitment to education and professional development and who have committed to offering career experiences to qualified players. Two of these companies – Merrill Lynch and MetLife – have designed opportunities with those who are interested in careers in financial management and services in mind.
Merrill Lynch is one of the longest-running participants in PE’s job shadow and internship program. At Merrill Lynch offices across the country, NFL interns gain active, hands-on experience focused around marketing and management of some of the company’s blue-chip clients. Interns learn from Managing Partners with a wealth of experience and have the opportunity to take on projects related to quantitative analysis, business case study, client management, and new business development. Several past NFL interns have enjoyed the Merrill Lynch experience so much and have demonstrated such an aptitude for the business that they went on to full-time jobs with the company.
MetLife joined the PE job shadow and internship program in 2012 and offers experience in the heart of US finance – New York City. Interns learn about all aspects of a career as a Financial Services Representative, including marketing, operations, sales, and the company’s financial products. Interns learn about financial services through working in a sales office, gain experience in investing and creating a financial plan, and receive mentoring from a MetLife executive to learn how to apply their education and experience. NFL interns not only have the opportunity to learn from some of the best in the business, but they are encouraged to offer their own business ideas and critical analysis.
If you think this is the career field for you, experience it first-hand by applying to a Merrill Lynch or MetLife internship.
Descriptions for these internships, as well as all of the other job shadows and internships offered by Player Engagement are available now. Visit the NFL Engagement Zone for additional information and to apply.
